Celebration Dance

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The 2007 Asian Cup Football series presented a perfect opportunity to leverage National Australia Bank’s sponsorship of the Qantas Socceroos and attract Australian Soccer fans aged 18-24.

CREATIVE STRATEGY:

Our chosen path was to connect with soccer fans by tapping into the entertaining spectacle of Soccer post-goal 'celebration dances'.

THE IDEA:

Celebration Dance is where football fever meets Saturday Night Fever, an entertaining website that enables fans to get involved and perform a celebration dance using their favourite Socceroos players.

THE CREATIVE EXECUTION:

Users choose the Football player they would like to control.
Three levels of difficulty are offered, so nobody is excluded and repeated plays are encouraged.

Once the game is initiated an animation sequence begins, showing the moment after a goal has been scored. The chosen player then breaks from the group and begins to run in front of the crowd. Following prompts, the user hits computer keyboard keys to activate various celebration dance moves.

HOW TO JUDGE:

  1. Choose a Player
  2. Choose 'HARD' setting
  3. Read instructions
  4. Play game

CELEBRATION MOVE POSSIBILITIES:

  • Saturday Night Fever
  • Acca Dacca (AC/DC)
  • Bruce Lee
  • Shadow Boxer
  • High Flyer
  • Helicopter
  • Moonwalk
  • Breast stroke swimming
  • Speed skater
  • Limbo stick
